How much exercise do you need for longevity?

Current public health guidelines recommend a minimum of the following: [6]
At least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity each week (or 75 minutes of vigorous activity)
Strength training at least two days per week
Regular balance and mobility exercises, particularly as people age
These recommendations represent a minimum effective dose for health. For individuals who are just beginning or returning to exercise after a period of inactivity, they can produce meaningful improvements in cardiovascular fitness, strength, and overall health. For those who already exercise consistently, however, they are more likely to help maintain existing fitness than drive substantial new adaptations. There is a dose-response relationship between physical activity and many health outcomes, meaning additional or progressively challenging exercise can provide further benefits for many people.
Even so, research suggests that even people performing less than the recommended amount still experience lower mortality risk than completely inactive individuals. [2]
